A shed connected to the house caught fire on King’s Dale Drive in Statesville on December 26th. The home was completely destroyed, displacing the family of three. The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and the Disaster Services Department provide the family with money for food, clothing and loss of medical supplies. The family is staying with relatives in the area and the Red Cross will continue to work with the family to create a recovery plan.

A single family fire caused major damage to a house on Euclid Avenue in Statesville early Saturday morning. The family of five was provided with a hotel room, and money for food and clothing. The American Red Cross was also there to provide emotional support and refer the family to other agencies in the area that can help.

A family of three was displaced from their home on Wildwood Lane in Statesville on December 19th. The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team was there to provide emotional support and monetary assistance for a hotel, food, clothing and infant supplies. The Disaster Services department will be workig with the family to ensure a successful recovery.

A large kitchen fire caused three families in Statesville to be displaced from their home late Wednesday afternoon. The multi-family unit on Seventh St. in Statesville suffered extensive smoke and water damage. The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team responded to the fire providing the three families with hotel rooms, food, baby supplies, replacement of lost medications and clothing. The Disaster Services Department of the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in Statesville are currently working with the families to help them find new places to live and replace items that were lost in the fire.

The American Red Cross provided emergency assistance to a family of five Wednesday afternoon after an electrical fire started in their home in Troutman. The fire caused significant damage to the electrical wiring throughout the residence. Red Cross was there to provide the family with a hotel and food. The family will be working with the insurance company to repair their home.

The American Red Cross responded to a two-alarm fire in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Dec. 10. A family of four was displaced by an apartment fire at 6871 Providence Square Drive. The Red Cross provided drinks and snacks for the family and firefighters. The Charlotte Fire Department reported no injuries to the family members; however the family’s cat did die in the fire. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Animal Control is assisting the family with the loss of their pet. The Red Cross is providing food, shelter and clothing for the family.

A multi-unit apartment fire displaced four families at the Barrington Apartments on Barrington Drive in Charlotte. The Greater Carolinas Chapter provided food, shelter and clothing to the families.

A family of two was displaced by a fire that destroyed their single family home on South Tryon Street in Charlotte. Food, shelter and clothing were provided by the Greater Carolinas Chapter.

A couple was displaced Monday afternoon when an accidental fire destroyed their home on Manchester Lane in Charlotte. The Charlotte Fire Department was called to service to the home in East Charlotte just after 2 p.m. First arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke conditions and flames coming from the rear of the one-story house. There were no injuries to report, and the American Red Cross provided assistance and temporary housing to the couple as well as beverages and snacks for the couple and first responders.

A multi-unit fire on Wendover Road in Charlotte displaced eight families. The American Red Cross provided food and shelter to four of those families. The property management company is working to have new units available for them to occupy soon.

Old electrical wiring caused a fire at a mobile home in Statesville, displacing two from their home. American Red Cross volunteers were on scene to provide food, clothing, and a hotel for the family. The American Red Cross met with the family to provide them further assistance with finding a new home and connecting them with other agencies in the area to replace items lost in the fire.

An electrical space heater caused a single family fire, displacing one from their home in Statesville. The American Red Cross disaster volunteers assisted the client with food and clothing. The client is hoping to relocate to Mooresville and the Red Cross will continue to support the client in their recovery process.

A single family fire this morning on Major Street in Charlotte affected only one resident. The American Red Cross DAT was notified by the Charlotte Fire Department, and the team provided food and shelter for the resident.

Disaster Action Team 1 responded to a single family fire in Statesville. The house fire was started by faulty electrical wiring and destroyed the home. American Red Cross provided assistance in the form of shelter, food, clothing and infant supplies. The family will be working with the American Red Cross and their insurance company during their recovery process.

The Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross DAT Team assisted a family of two who suffered the loss of their home as a result of arson. The DAT Team consisting of James Weaving and Zachary Perkins provided food and shelter.

The DAT Team consisting of Claudine Binnie and Zachary Perkins responded to a fire in uptown Charlotte which displaced a family of (4) four. The Greater Carolinas Chapter provided one adult and three children with food, shelter and infant supplies.

Linda Fry and Howard Hanlon, disaster volunteers, responded to a single family disaster in Huntersville, that occurred on 11.2.08. The Huntersville residence was hit by an SUV causing major structural damage to the home. The home was rendered uninhabitable. The American Red Cross provided emergency assistance in the form of food, clothing and a hotel. The American Red Cross will follow up with the family to best provide a positive recovery.

Sam Migit and Ann Carbin, disaster volunteer, responded to a single family fire in Statesville. The family of two received emergency assistance with a hotel, food and clothing. The house fire was caused by electrical problems and destroyed the home. The Red Cross will be in contact with the family to help them in the recovery process.

A family of six consisting of three adults and three children suffered the loss of their home as a result of a fire on Halloween night in Northwest Charlotte, NC. Capt. Jeff Von Connor of Charlotte Fire Department Engine 22 was the lead on scene accompanied by an arson investigation team. The Greater Carolinas Chapter of The American Red Cross provided food, shelter and clothing.

LeSharne Blount, AmeriCorps member, and Marge Gray, disaster volunteer, responded to a single family fire in Mooresville. The family of two was displaced from their home after the furnace caught on fire, destroying the home. The Red Cross provided emergency assistance with food, clothing and a hotel. The family will look for a new place to rent, and the Red Cross met with the family to refer them to other community agencies for further assistance.

The daytime DAT Team assisted a family in Charlotte, N.C. who were victims of an electrical fire. After being notified by the Charlotte Fire Department, the DAT responders assisted the family with food, clothing and immediate shelter.

At 5:21 p.m., by notification from the Charlotte Fire department, The Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross Daytime SAT Team swiftly responded to a family of (5) five residing at the West Side Apartments in Charlotte, N.C. left homeless as a result of a fire.
Responders: David Wyatt and Zachary Perkins assisted the family of (3) three adults and (2) two children with food, clothing and sheltering.
Later, Gedis (Hope) Elmore followed up with the client offering additional emotional support.

Another Red Cross Disaster Action Team swiftly traveled to assist a family of six displaced by a fire at 11:40 p.m. Monday on Providence Road in Charlotte. The Red Cross team assisted the adult and five children by providing food and groceries and temporary sheltering at a local hotel.

One Red Cross Disaster Action Team responded to an incident involving a family of four at 10:20 p.m. on Burkland Drive in Charlotte. The family, consisting of one adult and three children, was displaced as a result the fire, which caused substantial damage to their home. The Red Cross team assisted the family by providing food and groceries as well as temporary sheltering at a local hotel.

The G.C.C. American Red Cross Day-Time D.A.T. team responded to a family of four in Charlotte, N.C. consisting of one (1) adult and three (3) children. Incredibly, the staff at local Bank of America started an e-mail chain for this particular family who had been affected for over a week with limited to no resources to their name. Food and groceries for four and clothing for two were provided.

The G.C.C. American Red Cross Day-Time D.A.T. team responded to a family of four in Charlotte, consisting of two adults and (3) children who were displaced by an electrical surge that caused fire to spread from the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. Food and clothing was provided. Their property management quickly responded by placing the tenants into a new unit over the Columbus Day Holiday Weekend.

The Bravo Team during afterhours responded to a family of four in Charlotte, N.C. consisting of two (2) adults and (2) children who were temporarily displaced due to a fire starting in a child’s room as a result of an electrical surge. The family received hotel stay as well as food and groceries.
