Be a Hero
This March, which is celebrated nationwide as Red Cross Month, you can be part of a group of local “Heroes” working hard to help the Red Cross continue its services. “Heroes for the American Red Cross” is a grassroots campaign where local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs, and individuals pledge to raise $1,000 for their local Red Cross chapter. This year, the Carolina Piedmont Region hopes to raise $300,000 during this campaign to support Red Cross services including disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for our community. All money raised will support your neighbors in your community.
- The American Red Cross is the only humanitarian organization with a Congressional charter to provide relief to victims of disasters and to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies
- The Carolina Piedmont Region of the American Red Cross abides by the seven founding principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality
- The region’s service area covers more than 1.1 million people in 14 counties in North Carolina.
- The American Red Cross has received an A+ rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy for its proven ability to get quick relief to disaster victims while using every dollar wisely; Charity Navigator has designated the Red Cross a 4-star charity, its highest rating.
