“I am honored to be asked to lead the Carolina Piedmont Region of the American Red Cross, an organization that has been an integral part of the community and serves 2.5 million people,” Broome said.  “I am humbled and excited to build on what I have learned both in my corporate and volunteer roles to work with this incredible humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance and emotional support to victims of disasters, teaches critical life-saving and emergency preparedness skills, and supports military members and their families.”

A native of North Carolina, Broome received her undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University and her MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has a distinguished career in the financial services industry and most recently served as the senior vice president, commercial banker and relationship manager for First Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Charlotte.

In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Broome has also been actively engaged in community nonprofit leadership, including serving on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Central Carolinas, LifeSpan, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce (Metro and East Area Chapters) and the Charlotte Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and several other service organizations.

“We are very excited to have found Angela to serve as our Regional CEO and know that she will lead our organization to even higher levels of performance in our community,” said Iris Horton, Carolina Piedmont Region board chair.

The Carolina Piedmont Region, headquartered in Charlotte, covers 14 counties in North Carolina: Alexander, Anson, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly and Union.

Teresa Caver has served as interim CEO for the Carolina Piedmont Region since May 2010.
