06.22.2009 Give a Pint, Get a Pint Blood Drive
CHARLOTTE - WBTV and Ben & Jerry’s will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive at several locations in Charlotte on Thursday, July 9. The Give a Pint, Get a Pint Blood Drive includes six sites for the convenience of blood donors. All donation sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All presenting donors will be treated to ice cream at the blood drive and will receive a coupon for a FREE pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, a FREE Red Cross T-shirt and a chance to win a $1,000 gas card.
The Carolinas Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross provides lifesaving blood to 103 hospitals and must have 1,600 people give blood and platelets each weekday to meet hospital demand.
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Platelets can be given safely every two weeks, up to 24 times a year. Most healthy people age 17 and older (16 with parental consent) who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets.
