05.28.2009 Give blood, save lives and party like a rock star
Music fans willing to help save lives by donating blood to the American Red Cross can get the VIP treatment at the Vans Warped Tour on July 23 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte or on July 28 at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta.
The Red Cross and Music Saves Lives have partnered to help increase blood donations this spring and summer by offering every presenting blood donor at the Music Saves Lives blood drives a free VIP pass to the Vans Warped Tour (note: a concert ticket will still need to be purchased). Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
Upcoming Carolinas Blood Services Region Music Saves Lives blood drives are as follows:
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20
2425 Park Road, Charlotte
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27

Collecting blood during the summer months is often more difficult than during other times of the year. Colleges and high schools, where up to 20 percent of the Red Cross’ blood donations come from, are not in session. By partnering with Music Saves Lives, the Red Cross is providing these important blood donors a unique opportunity to help save lives by giving blood.
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Platelets can be given safely every two weeks, up to 24 times a year. Most healthy people age 17 and older (or 16 with parental consent), who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets. For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate, please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (448-3543) or visit www.RedCrossBlood.org.
